Of French and Algerian descent, and currently calling Riyadh home, Morrad is not your average entrepreneur. He's a globe-trotting visionary who's left his mark in various corners of the world, and he's just getting started.
Morrad possesses a remarkable talent for transforming startups into highly profitable ventures. His exceptional business acumen consistently turns startups into success stories.His most recent exit was Melltoo, e-commerce platform where people could buy and sell secondhand items, and it became a sensation. So sensational, in fact, that the IKEA group in Saudi Arabia decided to acquire it in 2022. Melltoo even got crowned the "Mobile App of the Year" by Entrepreneur.com in 2016, and featured in the top 50 Arab startups, for three years in a row, (2015,2016, 2017). To top it off, they were recognized as the Top 100 Arab startups by the World Economic Forum in 2019. Melltoo was backed by famous venture capital firm, 500 Startups, and raised a total of $7.5M from top regional investors.
Fast forward to today, and he's the CEO and Co-founder of Takadao, a Shariah-compliant community-owned life insurance company built on the blockchain. Only a year and a half old, the start-up has already got big plans and recently closed a pre-seed round of $1.6M, led by the Legendary billionaire venture capitalist Tim Draper, this is the first Web3 MENA-based startup Tim has invested in. Other notable investors for the pre-seed include BIM ventures, Taqadam and Core Vision investments.
And if that's not enough, Morrad proudly represented Takadao this year at TechCrunch Startup Battlefield, chosen from thousands of applicants worldwide, Takadao has been recognized early on as a pioneer in the Web3 space. Morrad is also the headliner at world-renowned tech events like Startup Weekend, Leap, GITEX, Step, ETHRiyadh, and the African Startup Conference.
